Copyright and Licensing

Author ownership with a clear publication licence for broad lawful dissemination.

Rights made legible

Authors keep ownership while research remains reusable.

The Journal's default model combines author copyright, CC BY 4.0 licensing and the publication rights needed to maintain the version of record.

Authors retain copyright in their work unless a different lawful holder is identified in the article. Published scholarly articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, CC BY 4.0. The licence permits sharing and adaptation, including commercial reuse, provided appropriate credit is given, a link to the licence is supplied, and changes are indicated. Material that the author does not own must be clearly identified and used with permission or another lawful basis. Website design, administrative text, logos, and third-party material are not automatically covered by an article’s CC BY licence.

Rights and access

Use the version of record with accurate attribution.

The article licence enables reuse. Separate third-party rights and Journal branding restrictions still apply.
